Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the pool, payouts, fees, connecting and the usual problems. Numbers are published per coin on its page and win over anything written here.
The pool
What is hashlak?
A mining pool for GPU and CPU miners that pays you in the coin you mined — Ravencoin, Zephyr and Xelis today. PPLNS, 0% fee for the first 90 days, no accounts: your wallet address is your identity and payouts go straight to it.
Who runs it?
A development team focused on mining, who mine on the pool themselves. Support runs through Telegram; incidents and changes are announced on the Telegram channel and on this site.
Why are there no accounts or passwords?
Because a pool does not need them. Your address is the account: statistics, balance and payouts are keyed to it. Nothing to register, nothing to steal, nothing to reset.
Why these three coins?
Ravencoin is the GPU classic; Zephyr gives CPUs a network small enough that a few hundred of them matter; Xelis has 5-second blocks, so even a small pool finds blocks all day. Each coin page shows which network the pool is on right now (mainnet or test).
How do I know this is not a scam?
Check, do not trust: every block and every payout on the site links to the public explorer, the pool never holds balances above the payout threshold, never converts coins, and never asks for private keys or seed phrases — anyone doing so in our name is a scammer. Mine with one rig for a day and verify your first payout on the explorer.
What does "testnet" mean on a coin page?
That coin's pool still runs on the test network while its mainnet node syncs: the statistics are real, the coins have no value, mainnet addresses are refused. The badge switches to mainnet the day the pool moves, and payouts open after the first confirmed mainnet block.
Payouts
How does PPLNS pay me?
When a block is found, its reward is split in proportion among the shares submitted in the last N shares before it. Steady miners get their fair share; pool-hoppers do not. Your balance grows with each confirmed block, not per share.
When are payouts sent?
Every 10 minutes, to every address whose balance is above the coin's minimum (20 RVN, 1 ZEPH, 0.5 XEL). Each coin page shows the minimum and who pays the network fee.
Who pays the transaction fee?
For Ravencoin the network fee (about 0.08 RVN) comes out of your payout; for Zephyr and Xelis the pool pays it.
Why is my balance "pending"?
A block has to mature before its reward can be spent: 102 confirmations on Ravencoin, 60 on Zephyr, 50 topoheights on Xelis. Until then the amount is shown but not paid.
Payouts are paused — why?
Two cases. The first hours after a coin moves to mainnet: payouts open after the first confirmed block and a manual check. And the safety stop: every payout run has a daily cap and a circuit breaker that halts sending when something looks wrong, until a human has looked. Balances keep accumulating; nothing is lost.
My Zephyr payout came a bit later than usual
The Zephyr wallet locks its change for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) after every transfer; the pool waits and pays on the next run.
What are "side" blocks on Xelis?
Xelis is a BlockDAG: a block found at the same height as another one is a side block and earns 30% of the reward. It counts for you like any other block.
Fees
What are the fees?
0% for the first 90 days after launch. Then 0.9% on PPLNS (1.5% on SOLO once it exists). Anyone who mined during the free period keeps 0.5% for life.
I have a channel or a group — is there a referral deal?
Creators receive 20% of the pool fees paid by the miners they bring, for life. Write to us on Telegram.
Connecting
Which address do I put in the miner?
stratum.hashlak.com with the coin's port — always the hostname, never an IP. If the Stratum server has to move (an attack, a second region) the name follows within a minute and your rigs reconnect by themselves.
Which port: 33xx, 34xx or 35xx?
33xx for one or two devices, 34xx for farms (higher start difficulty), 35xx for TLS (Let's Encrypt certificate, same difficulty as 33xx). Vardiff adjusts the difficulty by itself; to pin it add d=<value> to the password. The exact ports are on each coin page.
HiveOS?
A flight sheet with pool "custom": URL stratum.hashlak.com:<farm port>, wallet %WAL% (for Ravencoin %WAL%.%WORKER_NAME%), the worker name in the password or the --worker flag for Zephyr and Xelis. The exact lines are on the software page.
Which addresses are refused?
Addresses from the other network (testnet vs mainnet), Zephyr subaddresses (ZEPHs…), Xelis integrated addresses and testnet (xet:) addresses. Mine to a wallet you control, not to an exchange deposit address.
Problems
I opened the Stratum port in a browser and now nothing connects
Any HTTP request to a Stratum port bans your IP for 60 seconds, for every device behind the same router. Close the tab and wait a minute.
TLS errors
A connection to a 35xx port that does not complete the TLS handshake bans the IP for 60 seconds. Use stratum+ssl:// or --tls only with the 35xx ports, plain TCP with 33xx and 34xx.
Many rigs behind one router
Limits per IP: 64 open connections and 30 new connections per minute. More than that needs a Stratum proxy — or talk to us. After a power cut the rigs reconnect over a minute or two; that is expected.
My antivirus deleted the miner
Expected for every mining program: they are classified as PUA or "packed" because malware uses the same engines. Download only from the official GitHub releases (links on the software page), compare the SHA256, then add an exclusion for the miner folder (ESET: Setup → Advanced setup → Detection Engine → Exclusions).
Earnings and electricity
How much will I earn?
Nobody can promise that. Earnings depend on your hashrate, the network hashrate and the coin price, and all three move every day. The calculator on this site gives a dated estimate from the pool's live network hashrate and the CoinGecko price; the coin pages show the pool's luck. Treat every number as approximate.
Is it worth it at my electricity price?
Only you can tell: multiply your rig's watts by 24 hours and by your price per kWh, and compare with what the mined coins are worth that day. Electricity, taxes and the legality of mining in your country are your responsibility (terms of use).
Can I mine on my phone?
No. App stores forbid it, and a phone does 50–300 H/s on RandomX — less than a cent a day while it damages the battery. A monitoring app is planned; mining on phones is not.
Telegram and privacy
How do the Telegram alerts work?
Open the bot (link on your wallet page) and send /watch <pool> <address>. You get worker offline / worker back, payout sent, and a summary every morning. Free, no account; /unwatch all stops it and deletes your data.
What does the pool store about me?
Your wallet address and worker names, the IP your miner connects from (kept 30 days for abuse detection), and for the bot your chat id and the wallets you watch. No names, no emails, no cookies, no trackers — details on the privacy page.
